TMA Questions

1. Answer any one of the following questions in about 40-60 words:

a) Study the architectural beauty of any Indo Islamic architectures from your painting study material or personally visit these architectures like the Qutub Minar, Gole Gumbad, or any other artifact from a nearby museum. Now try to learn the characteristic features of these works, and write down any four differences between any two architectures.

b) Observe the painting 'Bird Catching at Baran' with the figure of different birds of miniature style. Try to draw the figure adding some new elements to create a new form. Suggest in two lines the color used in this painting.

2. Answer any one out of the following four questions in about 40-60 words.

a) "Jahangir holding a picture of Madonna is a beautiful illustration of the Jahangir period”. Write a paragraph about the decorative border with scripture on the same work.
b) Visit the Taj Mahal at Agra. Make a paper model of the Taj Mahal, keeping all the features of its structure intact.

3. Answer any one out of the following four questions in about 40-60 words.

a) Mughal emperors were very fond of paintings of birds. Choose four birds from Mughal miniature paintings, and copy it on an A4 size cartridge paper.
b) Why it is said that the painters of Basholi were influenced by poetic descriptions of Krishna Leela, and used these romantically in their paintings. Name anyone title of Basoli painting.

4. Answer any one out of the following four questions in about 40-60 words.

a) "Tanjore arts are different from any other painting style", justify the statement with example. Why did the Deccan style become very popular in the surrounding regions?
b) Observe the style of Pahari and Deccan miniature works. Write the difference of characteristics between these two miniature arts, at least six.

5. Answer any one of the following four questions in about 100-150 words:

a) Miniature painting done on hand made paper which is made of locally available materials. Details of these materials are given in your textbook. Write in detail about the process of making handmade paper. Also, write about any Pahari miniature painting.
b) Collect any art books, and magazines cuttings of pictures of Indo Islamic architectures, for example, Mahal, Qutub Minar, Gole Gumbad, Safdarjung Tomb, Humayun's Tomb, Red Fort, Agra Fort etc. Create a beautiful collage using at least 6-7 of these cuttings.

6. Make any one project work given below:

a) Draw a composition with beautiful foreground, background, and at least two human figures You can depict a male or female figures of any age. You can take an idea from the painting "Nizamuddin Awalrya and Amir Khusran' from your Painting study material. The medium will be watercolour.
b) Observe carefully the picture “Falcon on a Bird Rest “. This is a superb example of ustad Mansur’s work justify in own words .
