Teaching Literature Through Drama

4-Weekend Teachers' Training Program

The program intends to give more than 36 hours of training to primary and middle school teachers, who must understand the importance of drama in teaching literature and learn the fundamental drama techniques to make their sessions more lively, enjoyable and far more effective. In eight extensive sessions you will learn how to adapt prose and poetry into performance pieces, advise their students to take up suitable roles and help them to put up their best performance. You will be introduced to the contemporary drama process applied in schools worldwide and the basics of performance through voice, speech, movement and design. On successfully completing the program you will receive a certificate of participation from the Actor Factor Theatre Company.

The program module has been designed keeping in mind the requirements of today’s classroom. It is based on the contemporary drama techniques being applied in top institutions worldwide. It rejects the mumbo-jumbo of drama and focuses only on the essential and applied aspects that are truly important for a teacher to be effective in the classroom.

ATCL & LTCL Trinity College London

Vaishali Chakravarty is a contemporary theatre practitioner, scholar and educator. In her distinguished career, Vaishali has worked in several full length productions with the Actor Factor Theatre Company. She is also the Group Artistic Director at Actor Factor.
She helps top schools across the country to revamp their drama curriculum, train their teachers and conduct special training sessions for students . She also conducts contemporary speech & drama and communication skills training programs at her several centres across New Delhi and Cochin.
In addition to learning under theatre veterans like Sabitri Devi and Late Heisnam Kanhailal, Vaishali has formally trained in Drama & Speech and has subsequently been awarded the ‘Associate of Trinity College London – (ATCL) Diploma with Distinction’ and 'Licentiate of Trinity College London - (LTCL) Degree with Merit' in Speech & Drama and Performance Arts respectively. She has attended the Shakespeare Summer School at the Royal Academy Of Dramatic Art (RADA), London and was also a participant at the International Drama Teachers’ Conference at the Royal National Theatre, London.
