Turns out, even if your business does not fall into the category, the Government recommends mandatory GST e-invoicing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Why?<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Let\u2019s explore.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p2\">What is e-invoicing?<\/h2>\n<p class=\"p2\">E-invoicing, as per Cleartax\u2019s definition, involves the submission of a generated standard invoice on a common\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cleartax.in\/s\/einvoice1-gst-gov-in-irp?forceCacheReload=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"><span class=\"s1\">e-invoice portal<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">It automates multi-purpose reporting with a one-time input of invoice details between any vendor and supplier.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Simply put, e-invoicing is a system in which invoices between businesses are authenticated by the GST network on the portal.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p2\">The Benefits of e-invoicing for MSMEs<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p2\">The Government\u2019s motive to introduce e-Invoicing is to ensure that there is interoperability of data.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p2\">Businesses today issue invoices in different formats and e-invoicing will ensure uniformity in data.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p2\">The Government hopes that this will promote B2B communication by reducing errors and cost involved.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p2\">Real-time tracking of invoices by the supplier to avoid duplicating.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Why you need to ensure accurate e-invoicing<\/h3>\n<p class=\"p2\">The Government\u2019s main intention to introduce the E-invoicing mechanism is to curb tax evasion and reduce fake invoicing.<\/p>\n<h5 class=\"p2\">Claiming Input Tax Credit:<\/h5>\n<p class=\"p2\">This also benefits businesses when claiming\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instamojo.com\/blog\/input-tax-credit-cash-flow\/?utm_source=imblog&amp;utm_medium=interlink&amp;utm_campaign=gst_invoicing\"><span class=\"s1\">Input Tax Credit<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0Since input credit is matched with output tax details, it is easier for GSTN to track fake tax credit claims.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Tax authorities acquire access to transactions as they take place in real-time. This happens because the e-invoice will have to be compulsorily generated through the GST portal.<\/p>\n<h5 class=\"p2\">Reducing Fake invoices or duplicate invoices:<\/h5>\n<p>Due to non-digitising of invoices by suppliers, there&#8217;s an increase in the number of fake or duplicate invoices in the industry.
