Here are the 3 major steps we followed:\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Step 1<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instamojo.com\/blog\/define-target-audience-ecommerce\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">defined our target audience<\/a> with the help of buyer personas. Knowing our target audience and our unique selling proposition was key. We chose Semrush to do a competitor keyword analysis to get a list of keywords we could target. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Step 3<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Based on the keyword difficulty and keyword search volume, we chose keywords that wouldn&#8217;t be too difficult to rank for but wouldn&#8217;t be too obscure\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>For example: &#8216;sell online&#8217; as a keyword has an extremely high search volume but an extremely high keyword difficulty. But &#8216;how to sell online&#8217; has a lower search volume, and a more manageable keyword difficulty. Can that be a thing?\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It can.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Just like using too much AI can also have a negative impact.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google is not stupid. It recognizes when you are trying to overstuff your content with keywords.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They understand your intent is not to educate your readers anymore but to just rank higher. And we already know <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thinkwithgoogle.com\/intl\/en-emea\/marketing-strategies\/search\/spot-intent-in-searches\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">how &#8216;Intent&#8217; is a game changer for Google in 2024.\u00a0<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Over-utilising SEO hacks and forgetting to be human can be off-putting and can cost you:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Visitors<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brand reputation\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Domain rating\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When creating content, remember the end user is a human. And they want to speak a human. Also,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instamojo.com\/blog\/ai-tools-for-business\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> use AI for productivity and brainstorming<\/a>, but do not try to generate hundreds of pieces of content with it.<\/p>\n<p>Google will know.<\/p>\n<h3><b>Dont ignore old content\u00a0<\/b><b><\/b><\/h3>\n<p>Fresh content does matter. It tells Google that your blog is healthy and active. Readers who are regular to your blog will appreciate fresh content and will keep returning.<\/p>\n<p>But, old content is also a treasure trove. Certain pieces of content that will forever be relevant to your target audiences are known as <strong>evergreen content.<\/strong> These are content pieces that form the backbone of your blog and hold relevance for years. <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.hubspot.com\/insiders\/creating-evergreen-content\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Here are a few ideas for creating amazing evergreen content.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>As fresh content is published, we also took the time and effort to:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Polish our evergreen content to stay updated on data and consumer trends<\/li>\n<li>Repurposed our old content into a new content format (<em>more on this later)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Kept checking and fixing issues on old content that is not yet ranking, but had potential<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p>If you see our blog &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instamojo.com\/blog\/convince-customers-to-buy-product\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Convince customers to buy from you<\/a>&#8220;, it was written all the way in 2018.
