But why?<\/p>\n<p>In a recent study carried out by the Economic Times,\u00a0UPI (Unified Payments Interface)\u00a0is emerging as the preferred gateway for consumers to repay loans. As a result, Fintech companies are introducing UPI into the gamut of online payments as an effective repayment mode, hoping this will improve loan repayment rates.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Why prefer UPI for loan repayment?<\/strong> <\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instamojo.com\/blog\/upi-2-upcoming-features-expected\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UPI payments<\/a> have grown in the past year from 0-30% with the new waves of credit apps like Lazypay. According to the Economic Times, over 40% of loan repayments take place through UPI. <\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>What led to the increase in UPI payments?<\/strong> <\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since its advent a year ago, UPI has found a way into the hands of small businesses\u00a0and customers alike due to its seamless UI and smooth payment experience. Also, there is a lower cost in recovering loans online, which has lead to this push.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Customers are using UPI for loan repayment for all kinds of loans, with the most preferred loan repayment taking place with EMIs and housing loans.
