It can take just 2 minutes to change the world, and Smallchange.ngo swears by it. <\/span><\/p>\n

When was the last time you contributed to a social cause in your society? Did you help raise funds for a small cottage industry run by village women? Did you feed 30 children on Eid? <\/span><\/p>\n

If you haven\u2019t, it\u2019s probably because you did not have the time. Or you did not know how to do it. Luckily smallchange.ngo has the answer to all our excuses for not contributing to society, yet. <\/span><\/p>\n

What is smallchange.ngo?<\/strong> <\/span><\/h2>\n

Small Change is a trust set up to help raise awareness of non-profits in India and the amazing work they do – and help them raise funds. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c We developed this online donation platform <\/span>SmallChange.ngo<\/span><\/a><\/span> through which NGOs can crowdfund for their programmes and projects. \u201c – Sara, Founder. <\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

You can raise funds for your chosen NGO<\/span> to mark a special occasion in your life, like a birthday, wedding, anniversary, etc.\u00a0<\/span>You can also help raise funds for personal challenges like a marathon, or simply show your support for the NGO.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Companies can start a matching donation campaign to encourage employees and clients to support their chosen NGO.<\/span><\/p>\n

How was smallchange.ngo started?<\/strong> <\/span><\/h3>\n

Sara Adhikari started smallchange.ngo with the support of her trustees, Anindita Ray and Subir Das. <\/span><\/p>\n

A journalist for almost 30 years, Sara returned to India in 2012 after more than a decade abroad, to work in the social sector but had no training in development. With a little research, she found out that there was a general distrust of NGOs, who didn\u2019t (and still don\u2019t) put a lot of value on communication. <\/span><\/p>\n

To fill that gap, Sara thought of creating a portal for online fundraising. \u00a0Her core motive – if no one knows what an NGO does, or how well they do it and the difference they are making, why would anyone support them?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c Our cause is growing a new generation of givers for the NGO – and all their causes! We are, as far as I know, one of two non-profit donation platforms in India. The other is GiveIndia, the first to be launched in India way back in 2000.\u201d – Sara, Founder <\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Smallchange.ngo’s vision:<\/strong> To create a <\/span>platform of choice when individuals want to raise funds for good causes\/NGOs. <\/span><\/p>\n

The challenge that comes with change:<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n

When it comes to working towards a good cause, there will be challenges ahead. <\/span><\/p>\n

Donating online is relatively new in India and the continuing distrust of NGOs is an issue. The common lament among people are \u2018How do I know my money is going to right NGO and used properly?\u2019<\/em>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Smallchange.ngo is working towards overcoming this by:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

  • Trying to engage potential donors with causes <\/span><\/li>\n
