Description

Chaitya Patrika is at Music's Service. We promote the really deserving musicians, mainly in the domain of North Indian Classical Music, to our level best. We strive hard to give them as much exposure as possible. Here is a bout of one such effort.
Shouvik Mukherjee is one among the brightest promising Sitarists in Kolkata right now. He is formally trained in Music from the Rabindra Bharati University, Calcutta. However, he is also a dedicated disciple of the Maihar school, currently pursuing his Taleem under the tutelage of Pandit Kushal Das. Nonetheless, he is also an avid listener of Music in general, and is particularly a fan of Pt. Nikhil Banerjee and Ustad Amir Khan (Vocal, Indore school) too. Shouvik's exposure to various kinds and schools of music reflects in his overall temperament too. Very few musicians of his age practices the restraint and peace that he demonstrates in this album.
Here, he has played three Ragas, Bageshree (45:46 minutes), Jhinjhoti (12:54 min) and Bhairavi (6:00 minutes). The Bageshree in particular is easily one among the best rendering on an plucking instrument you'd hear in recent times. He is ably accompanied on Tabla by Soumen Nandy, who is another torchbearer of the legendary Farukabad school of Tabla playing, and is engaged in accompanying some big names like Pt Budhaditya Mukharejee, and Pt. Kushal Das (Shouvik's mentor).
We at Chaitya Patrika have tried our best to bring you the best possible quality of sound reproduction. We know that even the best of music can be destroyed by bad audio, and we won't let that happen.
Finally, the entire sales proceeds of this product of ours go to charity via WATAN TRUST.
