Garba means garbh in Sanskrit. In earlier times the dance was performed in circles around an earthen lamp called garbhadeep. The lamp represented the foetus while the circle represented the garbha, the womb of the mother.
Traditionally, Garba was seen as an occasion for people to come together in the open air and celebrate the circle of life, the power of motherhood, of Shakti. Hence for the nine days, the nine forms of Shakti were revered.
Over the time, the festival has evolved. And so has the way of celebrating it. With all the flashing lights and glaring music, we have forgotten the real essence of Garba. So, this year, for one night, DivingDeep, true to its philosophy of bringing you closer to the nature and connecting you to your deeper self, offers to take you back to the traditional form of Garba with bare minimum lights and just a dhol for the music in the midst of wilderness.
Come, celebrate this festival with us away from the hustle bustle of the city Navratri, and dance through the night, hopefully under the rains, with some like minded people to thank the mother nature and to venerate the goddess Shakti in her true form.
