Bhutan Bhutan, a Buddhist kingdom on the Himalaya's eastern edge, is known for its monasteries, fortresses (or dzongs) and dramatic landscapes that range from subtropical plains to steep mountains and valleys. In the High Himalayas, peaks such as 7,326m Jomolhari are popular trekking destinations. Paro Taktsang monastery (also known as Tiger's Nest) clings to cliffs above the forested Paro Valley.

Thimphu Thimphu, Bhutan's capital, occupies a valley in the country,s western interior. In addition to being the government seat, the city is known for its Buddhist sites. The massive Tashichho Dzong is a fortified monastery and government palace with gold-leaf roofs. The Memorial Chorten, a whitewashed structure with a gold spire, is a revered Buddhist shrine dedicated to Bhutan's third king, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck.

Paro Paro is a valley town in Bhutan, west of the capital, Thimphu. It is the site of the country's only international airport and is also known for the many sacred sites in the area. North of town, the Taktsang Palphug (Tiger's Nest) monastery clings to cliffs above the forested Paro Valley. Northwest of here are the remains of a defensive fortress, Drukgyel Dzong, dating from the 17th century.

Bhutan is regarded as one of the cleanliest and also the happiest countries in the world. Bhutan is known for its graceful purity and simplicity. Bhutan is a must see destination for every traveller who loves a peaceful vacation.

DETAILED ITINERARY

Day One Bagdogra to Phuentsholing After pickup, transfer to Phuentsholing. Check into hotel. Meanwhile we will apply for the Permit for Thimphu and Paro. In evening, free at leisure to visit the local bazaar. Over Night Stay in Phuentsholing.

Day Two Phuentsholing to Thimphu (drive of 5hrs-6hrs) After breakfast move for Thimphu the capital town of Bhutan through lustourous valleys and mountains. Check into Hotel.

Day three Thimphu sightseeing After breakfast move for the local points; memorial Chorten built in the memory of the third king His majesty king Jigme Dorji Wangchuk by his queen mother Ashi Phuntsho Choden Wangchuk, Tashichhodzong the main secretariat building and the central monk body. Semtokha Dzong, the oldest fortress of the kingdom and now it is the houses of the school for the Buddhist studies. National institute for zorig chusum; students are taught painting, calligraphy, embroidery, wood carving, sculpture etc. National Textile museum one of the most visible traditional crafts and a distinctly Bhutanese art form. National Library and Heritage Museum and after completing move to Hotel and night stay.

Day Four After breakfast drive to north to Thimphu Valley. It is of 4hrs travelling distance. On the way you will be stopped to explore the highest pass i.e Dochula Pass. There are 108 chortens called Druk Wangyel Chorten with colorful prayer flags surrounding the area. Move ahead for Punakha valley. Check into hotel. After lunch visit Punakha Dzong, the palace of great happiness. The war materials captured during the Tibetian Invasion can be found in the Dzong. Chhimmi Lhakang which is famous for its fertility. Wangduephodrang Dzong was founded by Zhabdrung in 1639. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day Five Punakha – Paro Visit Kyichu Lhakhang - it is said that Kyichu Lhakhang and tamnaw lakhang was built the same day at left foot and left knee of Himalayas to subdue the ogress that lay across the Himalayas. It is the Bumthang. But Ashi kezang Chorden wangchuk built the second temple; it has same as Kyichu Lhakhang in Paro. Inside this courtyard you will see the orange tree, and if you blessed with orange accidentally then your desires will be fulfill, but you will not allow plucking the fruits. It’s regarded as sin. Ta- Dzongnow known as the National Museum and it holds the fascinating relics art and religious. Ringpung Dzong - The administrative office, and Paro Chhu - You can enjoy the river bed of Himalayas. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day Six Paro - Phuentsholing Early morning you will be taken to the Tiger nest. This is of 5hrs-6hrs trekking. In the afternoon move back to Phuentsholing

Day Seven Depart Phuentsholing to Bagdogra - Departure Day After early breakfast return drive from Phuentsholing to NJP or Bagdogra airport. Trip ends Phuentsholing – IXB Airport 5 - hrs drive).
