With more than half of India's population engaged in agriculture and by the virtue of India holding the second largest agricultural land in the world the sector has been one of the primary focus areas of all government. While significant advances were made in this sector during the Green Revolution in the 1950s & 60s, the same pace has not been followed in the subsequent years.
