Why should you make your own soaps?

Commercial soaps contain ingredients that can be harmful to our bodies.

As we take our baby steps towards better health and a greener environment, making your own soaps helps you remain cruelty-free and stay clear of chemicals that your skin absorbs. This particular workshop focuses on making melt-and-pour soaps.

What do you get to learn?

In this special workshop with plant-based soap maker Sharmila Kannan, you get to learn all the steps towards making vegan and cruelty-free soaps, right from the purchase of raw materials to the use of additives like plant-based butters, plant extracts, natural clays, natural essential oils, natural scrubs, use of natural colours and also how to package the same and the equipment you need to make your cruelty-free, environment-friendly soaps. Lastly you will also learn how to create your own recipes and also how to make designer soaps.

This is really doable and could be an engaging hobby and even a source of income as a small-scale industry.

We will be making the following soaps;

Basic Lavender Soap
Neem Aloevera Soap (Extract Use)
Calamine Soap (Use of Clay)
Liquorice Soap (Use of Powder)
Ocean Breeze Soap (Soap Naming)
Haldi Chandan Soap (Use of Butters)
Loaf Soap (Introduction to Designer Soaps)
Scrub Soap (Use of Oats/Walnut/Saffron)
Hanging Soaps
Double Colour Designer Soap

A WhatsApp group will be formed a day prior to the event. This shall continue till 29th November 2023 to give you all the support, while you continue on your soap-making journey and experiment with your creativity.

The recording of each session will be shared in the group with a validity of 3 months and you may watch it any number of times. In fact, we recommend that you watch them at least 2-3 times.

We will also share the list of suppliers who sell the raw materials including natural plant colours.

Cannot attend live sessions? No worries

You can watch the recording of each session and start ordering the equipment and practise making soaps. All queries and doubts will be addressed in the WhatsApp group. However, we strongly recommend that you attend the sessions live.

How will this work?

You will be introduced to the theory of soap-making in the first session. You will be given a preparation list and details of the raw material suppliers. A pdf will be shared in advance with all, which will be explained during the session. You are requested to take a printout of the pdf and keep it handy while we discuss it.
There will be a gap of 15 days between the 1st & 2nd sessions so that you can procure the required raw material.
The 2nd & 3rd sessions will be practical sessions with a demonstration of the making of various soaps.

Time: 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM IST (8:30 AM New York, 1:30 PM UK, 4:30 PM UAE, 8:30 PM Hong Kong, Singapore & AWST)

Contribution: Rs. 4500/- + 18% GST
