Sar Pass is a magical trail starting from Kasol (1,580 m) in the majestic Parvati Valley of Himachal Pradesh. Sar means ‘lake’ and one has to pass by a small frozen lake and hence the name Sar Pass. One of the best adventures of this trek is Grahan Village (2,347 m). The enchanting Grahan stream is surely going to woe you. Grahan has only 50 houses and a population of around 350 people. Arriving in Grahan is a tranquil sight with its wooden houses, lush greenery, and pure mountain air. There is also a small temple and a waterfall in Grahan. The villagers are simple and hospitable and the food is freshly made and delicious. A walk through the village and one will get the pure Himachali feel. There is no human settlement after Grahan village. Ming Thach (3,400 m) is a beautiful meadow that offers an amazing view of Chandrakhani ranges. Nagaru camp (3,810 m) is the best place to witness a beautiful sunset. The top view from Sar Pass at 4,222 m will leave you spellbound and speechless! The trail from Biskeri Thach (3,353 m) to Kalga is through a magical forest and small streams.
Sar Pass is a moderate trek and having a decent level of fitness is required. No alcohol is allowed on this trip. This trail has no cellular network and you can spend a peaceful and happy time alongside mother nature with your TRIBE!

TRIP ITINERARY
Day 1: Kasol – Grahan (4-5 Hours)
On the first day, we begin our trek from Kasol and make our way to Grahan. Grahan is a village located about 8 kilometres away, up along the Grahan Nala which drains into the Parvati River at Kasol. The route is fairly easy, to begin with, and only the last 3 kilometres are a steep hike. Going through a dense forest beside a stream, the views of the far-odd snow-capped mountains of the Pir Panjal Range become more and more clear with each turn. Grahan is a small little hamlet where no roads go. With the traditional Pahadi houses made in Kath-Khuni architectural style with wood and stone, this part of Parvati Valley is untouched and is as rustic as it gets! At Grahan, we call it a day and spend the night in a cosy homestay or camps before beginning a more strenuous journey the next day.
Day 2: Grahan – Ming Thach (4-5 Hours)
We begin our morning early with a wholesome breakfast before starting our trek of almost 5 hours today. From Grahan, we make way to our destination for the day, called Ming Thach. In the Pahadi dialect, a thach translates to a meadow. This 7-kilometre-long journey will lead us to beautiful rolling meadows which are used by sheepherders in the summers to graze their herds. The trail is steep and goes through a dense forest before opening to the lush green meadows. From Ming Thach, our next destination Nagaru and the final point of Sar Pass are visible in the distance, up on the mountain.
Day 3: Ming Thach – Nagaru (4-6 Hours)
Today, we make our way to our highest campsite on our trek at almost 12,500 feet above sea level! Today’s trek is short, but the steep trail and the presence of almost knee-deep snow will make the process slow and tiring. Once the sun sets over Nagaru, it gets incredibly cold, so it's best to have an early dinner and call it a night to conserve energy. But the view of Manikaran town and other villages of Parvati Valley glittering far down in the valley makes all the troubles worth your while!
Day 4: Nagaru – Sar Pass – Bishkari Thach (6-8 Hours)
Today is the day we have all been waiting for and making this strenuous journey for this moment. We leave Nagaru early in the morning and finally make way towards Sar Pass at 13,800 feet above sea level! The steep climb will happen on a snowed-out trail but the stunning views of Tosh Valley that will keep us company will make up for it. From the top of the Sar Pass, it feels like another dimension has been unlocked with such stunning views of the Parvati Valley region! From the top, one can even slide down through the snow for 2 kilometres with necessary precautions! Our campsite is at Bishkari Thach, a stunning meadow that can be reached after trekking through a beautiful rhododendron forest!
Day 5: Bishkeri Thach – Barshaini – Kasol (4-5 Hours)
Today’s descent is easy and considering this is the last day on the trek, it makes it even more rewarding! Crossing lush grasslands, dense forests, and majestic views of the Himalayas, we make our way to Pulga – a beloved hamlet in the Parvati Valley before crossing over the Parvati River to finally hike down to Barshaini. From Barshaini, our team will take you back to Kasol to end the trip on a sweet, memorable note!
